Southern California fires have made some early appearances this season.

Above are a couple images of the aftermath of one of them .....

Others? A nightmare come true.

I'dn't realized this could well be an edition to Rupe's "Body Parts" series of blog entries until that wiley Jerry Thomas informed Rupe of such. Thanks, Jerry!

#225: Kid Friendly

This morning Rupe took the girls to the final $1.00 movie of the summer 'round these parts before school begins anew.

No. It wasn't Inglorious Basterds. It was The Pink Panther 2.

But you have to admit: This was a terrific photo opportunity .....

P.S. Popcorn and Coke for breakfast. Am I the best Dad in the world or what ... ??? (Well ... this morning, anyway ...)

#223: Body Parts #2 - Family Jewels

Riding a Pederson Bicycle is an adventure in physicality.

While the upright position and Royal handle bar provide a unique and anatomically beneficial ride, the position of the crotch "resting" in the hammock seat does not. The little "pouch" in the seat has need of being a tad "deeper" so that one doesn't revert to voice-changing pre-pubescence.

#222: Half A Tear

The Wife and I toodled downtown to take in Curt Smith of Tears For Fears the other night.

He was sicker than a dog, but pulled up his boot straps and gave us a spiffy little show.

Among some of the tracks he did: Yellow by Coldplay (neat version of it, too) and, of course, Mad World and Everybody Wants To Rule The World.

#220: Conversation

7:40 a.m.

In the parking lot at my place of employment, I spied a couple mostly drunken bottles of Corona Extra occupying a single parking space.

How they got there was anyone's guess:

Their placement could have been the result of an after-work powwow between a couple co-workers. Or the remnants of a drunken spree. Or a lover's spat that went right enough they didn't need the beer anymore. Or it could have been just a convenient place for whoever left them to leave them, right there in the middle of the space.

Whatever the reason, the bottles were there, taking up space.

I wondered if they would still be there at the close of the day.

Sure enough, they had garnered enough respect to not only be left alone, but to have been given a wide berth around them.

Ain't that a kick?

Isn't this cute? Don't you like the little wavy waves at the bottom engulfing the tailpipes?

And, if you enlarge the photo by clicking onto it, you can see the "Follow me 2 In-N-Out" at the top of the hood.

#213: Asley Tisdale At The Americana

Yes.

I was at an Ashley Tisdale concert.

Just myself, my wife, our girls ... and thousands of screaming teens and pre-teens straining to get a glimpse of the High School Musical star promoting her upcoming new album.

I'm happy to report we all survived.

#209: Back In Our Possession

Over the weekend, it was "Get Reacquainted With The Girls" time.

They'd been at Grandma's for the better part of a month and it was time to pack up and go home.

No ... they don't look tired at all from the long weekend, do they?

#208: Wrong Side, Sir

Lake Topaz (the Nevada side), a wave runner and a little balance is all it takes to have a good time on the water.

Balance being the key ingredient.

(Two seconds later, the little one was in the water from trying to hop aboard from anywhere other than the back of the craft.)

#207: Extreme Air-Conditioned Pants

On our way to pick up the girls in Topaz, Nevada, this girl was picking up something to eat on her way to a very important date.

Or was she?

If you look closely (click photo for larger picture), she has extremely air-conditioned pants at the back. They were "altered" from seam to seam in the back of the legs, just under her "cheeks".

I don't know what she was thinking, but it made for a great photo opportunity .....
